You may qualify for reduced energy rates through the Arizona Low-Income Ratepayer Assistance (LIRA) Program. This program can help you save money by providing a yearly discounted monthly basic service charge and a 30% reduction on the “per therm” rate. This discount is for your primary residence only, and the Southwest Gas bill must be in your name. The discount will be applied to the first 150 therms of natural gas used each month from November 1 through April 30.
LIRA Program rate discounts are determined by your total gross household income and number of people living in your residence.
Review the income guidelines, and if you think you may qualify, complete this application.
The definition of "gross (before taxes) household income" is all money and noncash benefits available for living expenses from all sources, both taxable and nontaxable, before deductions, including expenses, for all people who live in your home.
